Miguel Bartolomé: Reflexiones sobre pluralismo cultural y racismo en América Latina
Este ensayo plantea que la cuestión de la pluralidad étnica en América Latina no constituye una apelación al pasado, sino un importante componente de la reflexión social y política contemporánea. Una breve aproximación histórica propone que los estados latinoamericanos se constituyeron como aparatos políticos uninacionales sobre configuraciones multiétnicas, lo que destaca que la represión cultural y la dominación étnica son parte integrante de su diseño estatal. Ello da cuenta de que la pobreza de los grupos étnicos no es accidental ya que representa el resultado de un proyecto histórico. Se comentan las políticas públicas sobre indígenas y afroamericanos y se señala su escasa participación en las formulaciones al respecto. Se discute la actual existencia de múltiples predicados adjudicables al concepto liberal e individualista de ciudadanía. y se cuestionan las políticas públicas nacionales e internacionales sobre los Pueblos Originarios de América Latina.
Miguel Bartolomé Antropólogo. Licenciado por la Universidad de Buenos Aires, Maestría y Doctorado por la UNAM, México. Profesor Investigador Titular del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia de México e integrante del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (Nivel III). Miembro de la Academia Mexicana de Ciencias y de la Asociación Indigenista del Paraguay. Ha realizado investigaciones entre grupos indígenas de Argentina, Paraguay, México y Panamá. Ha sido profesor en México, Argentina, Brasil, Holanda, Paraguay y España. Autor y co-autor de 80 ensayos y 22 libros sobre etnología y antropología política. Entre ellos "Gente de Costumbre y Gente de Razón: las identidades étnicas en México" (Siglo XXI, 1997, 2004); "Librar el Camino: relatos sobre antropología y alteridad" (2003); "Procesos Interculturales: antropología política del pluralismo cultural en América Latina" (Siglo XXI 2006, 2008). Actualmente es Consejero Académico del Proyecto Nacional de Etnografía que desarrolla el INAH.
